Mr. Chan Ashing has furnished satisfactory references as to his antecedents, and the security required.
The Director of Public Works recommends that the newly appointed officer should be styled "Head Store Keeper" instead of "Compradore" as hitherto, the latter title being, in his opinion, a misnomer in view of the nature of the duties attached to the office, and I beg to endorse that.
